Day Camp

  • 2014 Day Camp is a few months away but the Burbank Park District is busy planning for it first summer at the New Fusion Recplex! If you’re new to the Park District stop in and check out the new facility, if you’re a returning family then hold on to your hats. The Fusion Recplex is going to be a major upgrade to Summer Camp! We now have a full size basketball court that can be used for just about any game or sport you can imagine. The new facility is a wonderful resource for the Burbank community so keep checking back for updates. As we work on our plans for 2014 we would like the community to give us suggestion for improving camp. Leave us a comment below with your idea, question, concerns, and stories of past years at camp.

    Sincerely

    Burbank Park District

I would love the opportunity to be a counselor at one of your camps. My name is Sarah Ryan and by summer 2012 I’ll be 20 years old. I just finished an internship at Walt Disney World and am interested in becoming an art teacher in the future (I am currently enrolled at the University of Illinois Chicago working towards my Bachelors of Fine Arts Degree in Graphic Design.) Unfortunately, no internships for Graphic Arts open at the moment involve children and I love working with kids (I have a large family, have babysat for multiple families, and worked at Evergreen Park’s Mini-Day Camp as a volunteer for four years and as an employee for three) Is there anyone I can contact or a location I can pick up an application? I would appreciate it so much. Thank you.

I understand the excitement in using the NEW facility but also am a little concerned about the fact that many of the outdoor play will be eliminated because we have use of an indoor environment. It was nice for our children to have 2 different parks/facilities to be at. Each park offered different activities for the children to do. IE, the newcastle park you always saw children using the spinning bars/monkey bars for various activity. They were for the most part outside enjoying the outdoors. I fear that this new facility will take this away. What are you doing to make sure the focus of activities remains outdoors versus indoors…

    • administrator

      May 26, 2014

Our new facility did not take away our Stevenson playground and we have built a fabulous park on 82nd and Nashville. Our park includes new playground equipment, and we moved our tennis courts and basketball courts from Stevenson to this new park on 82nd and Nashville. Our facility offers a safe place to play basketball that is not changed due to weather conditions. While we offer some programs for children in our new facility such as Kid Zumba, most activities limited to adults and children over 13 years of age such as memberships. Our focus is on community health and promoting wellness. Thank you for your concern.

    • administrator

      June 3, 2014

Hi Amanda, I am unsure which program you are talking about. Kid Zone is in our Fusion Recplex as a place for children to be while their parents are working out. The ages for the Kid Zone are ages 6 months-12 years. There are varied hours for our Kid Zone. Our Day Camp is a program from ages 3-12. 3-4 years old is a half day starting at 9 AM until 12 PM. 5-12 years old starts at 9 AM – 3 PM. More details can be found in our brochure http://www.burbankparkdistrict.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/Summer_2014_Brochure.pdf or calling our facility 708-599-3873.
