What’s new?
The Burbank Park District hopes everyone enjoyed their new parks over the fall. We are trying to make every park a place where you can bring the whole family out for fun and relaxation.
What Park Did You Guys Finish This Time?
With the cooperation of Stickney Township and Senator Louis Viverito, the Burbank Park District gave Nottingham Park a facelift. The new amenities are a walking path, 6 Tri-Active fitness machines, picnic shelter, playground and softball field. For safety and security, the Park District added parking lights and surveillance cameras. Once again, we want to give a big thank you to Senator Viverito for his continued support.
Is There Something I May Not Know About The Burbank Park District?
We are now renting our 2,300 square foot Stevenson Building on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Whether you are hosting a baby shower or Joey’s 1st birthday, the Stevenson Building is a perfect place.
I Keep Asking Myself, “How Can The Park District Keep Doing These Great Changes To The Parks?
We are very fortunate to have a great Board of Commissioners (Carol Opitz, Ed Krupa, Monica Leffers, Ted Arnold and Mary Faley) who are proactive and look to improve our community. Just as important are dignitaries such as Senator Viverito, Mayor Klein and Democratic Committeeman Michael Looney, who continue to support the Park District 100%!
I Have Been Hearing Something About A Community Center, Is There Any Truth To This?
The Park District has applied for a 2.5 million dollar grant to expand our Stevenson Building into an all-purpose community center. We have a conceptual drawing at Newcastle park if anyone is interested. Amenities include new locker rooms, gymnasium, walking track, fitness center and aerobics studio. We will not hear back from the state until Spring 2011. If we get our grant, this vision will become a reality!!
